The cheapest time to build a tight, efficient house is while it’s still open. On new construction, spray foam lets us seal and insulate the whole envelope before the drywall goes up — getting the air sealing right the first time, in a Zone 3B climate where it matters more than almost anywhere.

Why build the envelope with foam

Every gap you seal during framing is a gap you never have to chase later. Spray foam applied to open walls, rooflines, and rim joists creates a continuous air seal that a batt-and-caulk approach struggles to match, and it does it while the assemblies are accessible. In our hot, windy climate, that continuous seal is the difference between a house that shrugs off the heat and one that fights it for thirty years. The ENERGY STAR guidance on sealing and insulating — and the roughly 15% in heating and cooling savings it points to — is easiest and most complete to achieve at the framing stage.

What we handle on a new build

  • Walls — open- or closed-cell in the cavities depending on the wall assembly and your target performance.
  • Roofline or ceiling plane — sealing the attic, whether that’s a conditioned sealed roofline or an insulated ceiling, so the house isn’t losing the fight up top.
  • Rim joists and penetrations — the leak-prone details that are trivial to seal now and a headache to fix later.
  • Metal buildings and barndominiums — foamed at the shell stage for complete coverage.

Hitting code, and beyond

The Texas energy code sets minimum insulation and air-sealing requirements by climate zone, and Wichita County’s Zone 3B has its own targets — attic levels in the R-49 range and wall assemblies around R-20 (or R-13 + R-5). We build to meet the code and, where it makes sense for your budget and goals, past it, because in this climate the envelope is the best long-term investment in the house. We’ll coordinate with your builder’s schedule so the foam goes in at the right moment.

Talk to us early. The best results and the smoothest job come from being brought in during planning, not after the framing inspection. Loop us in and we’ll help you get the envelope right from the start.
