A vented crawl space lets outside air move freely under your floor — and in a windy climate averaging around 10 to 12 mph, that air is moving with real force. In summer it’s hot; in winter it’s cold; and either way it’s pulling the temperature of your floor toward the outdoors and carrying dust and moisture with it. The floor above becomes the least comfortable surface in the house, and your HVAC works overtime trying to compensate for a room that’s essentially open to the weather from below.
